CREO DuPage is a nonprofit pre-college program focused on helping motivated Hispanic/Latino/Latinx students attain the future they yearn for – making possible what may seem impossible. We want to break away from misconceptions by changing the college narrative in the community and enabling our students to successfully prepare for and complete their studies.

CREO provides high school students and their parents/guardians with academic coaching, individualized advising, monthly college-related family workshops, and group college visits. Our student workshops are enrichment and mentoring group sessions where they grow their skills and learn from each other. Our parent workshops provide a space for parents to learn practical ways to support their students’ journey to college.

STUDENTS

Our program helps solidify academic or personal development areas students may need in order to explore, prepare for and be admitted into college.

FAMILIES

We partner with parents/guardians to help CREO students acquire self-awareness, college-knowledge, and strengthen their academic skills.

VOLUNTEERS

Our volunteers coach and mentor the students in the programs. We could not do what we do without our team of volunteers donating their time and experience.

DONORS

We have big dreams for the program! With your gift we can continue working towards improving the program and supporting the families and community.

Why DuPage County?

  • POPULATION  There are over 10,000 Hispanic/Latino/Latinx high school students in DuPage County and the majority of them would be the first ones in their families to earn a college degree in the US.

  • COMMUNITY  The people of DuPage are amazing! A group of individuals identified a need in the local Hispanic / Latino / Latinx community. At a community event, parents also voiced a desire for additional pre-college support for their students. This collaboration of the different parts of the DuPage community has resulted in the formation of CREO!

  • RESOURCES  With a diversity of income levels in DuPage County, schools in the county cover a broad spectrum from well-resourced to low-performing. Even so, there are great public and private K-12 schools, colleges, and universities. There are resources in DuPage that are not reaching everyone.

  • OPPORTUNITIES Families come from all walks of life and their needs and life goals vary. Yet, DuPage County generates different opportunities for everyone. A great example is having one of the top community colleges that affords students an excellent education at a fraction of the cost. Scholarships, apprenticeships and summer enrichment opportunities are also promoted by local organizations.
